        pi@retropie:~/singe $ echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
        /home/pi/singe:

Ok and the libraries are still in /home/pi/singe ?

        ls -al /home/pi/singe/*.so

LD_LIBRARY_PATH should be fixing this, is there some other facility in RetroPi that will load a library path ?

Besides copying them into /usr/local/lib and ldconfig - lol ?

@shavecat try changing the -homedir to -homedir /home/pi/singe instead of -homedir /home/pi/.daphne

i know i finally got mine working only by putting everything (or a link to everything) in the /retropie/emulators/singe dir, including the pics/ and /sound the *.so files, and links to the romdir and datadir, and the .bin file, then removing the -homedir and -datadir switches in the command line,

The game is looking for directories like pics and sound in ~./daphne

After installation, the .daphne/pics folder only contains a single file: singeme.bmp

The singeme.bmp file and all of the other required graphics will be found in another pics folder wherever you installed singe (eg. ~/singe or /opt/retropie/emulators/singe). So we can backup (or delete) the single-file directory in ~/.daphne and symlink to the directory with all of the files:

                    IF INSTALLED TO ~/singe/:

                    mv ~/.daphne/pics ~/.daphne/pics_original
                    ln -s ~/singe/pics/ ~/.daphne/pics

                    IF INSTALLED TO /opt/retropie/emulators/singe/:

                    mv ~/.daphne/pics ~/.daphne/pics_original
                    ln -s /opt/retropie/emulators/singe/pics/ ~/.daphne/pics

                    This should solve the problem

If this helps, this was my experience with the installation:

                      Singe Installation with Time Gal

                      • Previously had RetroPie Daphne installed
                      • Followed installation found in this thread (thanks! very solid)
                      • Copied /opt/retropie/configs/daphne/dapinput.ini to ~/.daphne/singeinput.ini
                      • Copied ALL required Time Gal files (m2v, framefile, etc.) to ~/.daphne/singe/timegal/
                      • Backed up ~/.daphne/singe/timegal.singe --> ~/.daphne/singe/timegal.singe.original
                      • Copied the bytecode fix --> ~/.daphne/singe/timegal.singe

                      [FIX]

                      Line 57, change -x 800 \ to -x 1920 \

@roslof pretty much comparable to my experience and problems I faced (I didn't have the audio one though).

One thing I did, since I have my games in an external folder, was to create a singe folder in roms/daphne, add the pics and sound folder there, symlink them from ~/.daphne, and also copy the emulator to /opt/retropie/emulators/singe .

@DirtBagXon a question: I copied the entire source folder to /opt/retropie/emulators/singe, but are all those files needed or is it just

                        daphne.bin
                        libsinge.so
                        libvldp2.so

                        that we need there?

                        Thanks!

To run DAPHNE, you must specify which game to run and which laserdisc player you are using.
For example, try 'daphne lair noldp' to run Dragon's Lair in testing mode.

                            Hey @shavecat,

It bears repeating that maddog is a singe game. The log informs that you are still running daphne instead of singe. Also, you seem to be mixing up some of the advice you've been given. Maybe we can unravel this a bit.

I'd recommend you stick with the maddog.sh approach, but you'll need to fix up a few things.

Change maddog.sh include the full path to your singe executable folder. Something like:

                            cd /opt/retropie/emulators/singe
                            ./run.sh maddog

The above assumes you installed singe in the folder listed. Change accordingly.

Add a singe line to emulators.cfg:

                            singe = %ROM%

When you try to run the .sh file from EmulationStation, you'll need to interrupt the loading process once and change the emulator to singe. Do not use daphne for maddog.

Also (double-checking) if you created an entry for singe in es_systems.cfg, or are adding to daphne, be sure to include .sh (and optionally .SH) to the extensions line... This will ensure the .sh files appear in EmulationStation. Something like this:

                            If extending Daphne:

                            <extension>.daphne .sh .DAPHNE .SH</extension>

If you added a new Singe system, it may look something like this:

                            <extension>.singe .sh .SINGE .SH</extension>

                            or simply:

                            <extension>.sh .SH</extension>

Then restart EmulationStation so the change takes affect,

This should get you closer. It may or may not solve everything.

@shavecat Permission denied typically means you don't have the execute flag set.

                                sudo chmod +x maddog.sh

That won't work if the .sh file is on a FAT32 system, the executable bit (x) is ignored.

Try moving the .sh locally, on the sdcard, and make it exeutable there. Of course, the .sh path that starts the game should be adjusted.

@mitu Good catch. I think adding the "exec" option on fstab is also an alternative.

If you can get back to this point:

                                          trying
SO im getting the daphne emulator finally !

but with SINGE GOT AN ERROR =(
could not open the VLP2 dynamic library (file not found maybe ? )

                                          Progress ! :)](link url)

Then I have a solution for making the shared libraries available globally, although it's a little brutal:

                                          echo "/home/pi/singe" | sudo tee -a /etc/ld.so.conf.d/singe.conf

                                          sudo ldconfig

This is, of course, assuming you still have those *.so files in /home/pi/singe - or change as appropriate...

                                          Then try again....

To revert, if this has bad consequences, just:

                                          sudo rm /etc/ld.so.conf.d/singe.conf

                                          sudo ldconfig

Not sure what you're expecting - isn't your ROMs folder on the USB stick, which is still a FAT32/non-Linux file system ?
