Unable to update Mame version when selecting an emu.

Hi all,
Just recently got a pi4 and have been messing around with the Mame emulator. I installed the varying versions so they were all accessible.
I was loading a game using one of the different versions of Mame and the system crashed.
On reloading I’m not unable to alter ANY game’s chosen Mame version. Selecting a different version just returns to the previous screen with the original version still selected. Even choosing to remove the chosen emulator refreshes the screen and the original emulator choice is still selected.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
