Every one I've tried will fail to load on boot, but the default one still works. I am on Retropie-4.0-rc1

@lilbud are you putting them in /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreens/ ? That is where i put them. Not where the say to in /home/pi/splashscreens/ or wherever it was they said to put them.

@lilbud runs fine for me. I presume you just downloaded the extra splashscreens through the script?

@edmaul69 the script will automatically download them into

            /home/pi/splashscreens/retropie-extra

Under user pi. That way you can easily remove the ones you don't want etc.

@herb_fargus That is where they are, none of them will work. I will get a black screen and at the bottom it will say loading failed.

@lilbud I haven't checked with the latest release candidate, so I'll give that a go when I have some time to see if I can reproduce

@lilbud I tried with a fresh 4.0 RC1 image and they all loaded up fine, so not sure what might be the issue with your setup.

@herb_fargus whenever i update a card to retropie 4.0 beta 2 it automatically boots a black screen with text and i have to add a picture. It may be related to his issue. I add my own pictures and videos so im not sure where the first splashscreen is trying to boot from or what pic its trying to boot.

@edmaul69 the splashscreens were changed so you have to update your splashscreens manually from the splashscreen module and re-enable them or else you'll get a black screen
