      pi4 2gb
retropie latest offical build from retropie with main and core updates
      offical psu and hdmi
2x ps4 dual shock controllers v2 latest models
default theme carbon with 60gb free space on sd card
no other usb devices plugged in

I have been having so many issues with the ps4 controllers only not other branded controllers.

No problems with them on ps4

It seems like a key press registering problem
When i scroll for e..g. down on a gameslist menu sometimes it gives a delay then goes crazy and skips lots of games or behaves erattic.

I have tried resettting emulationstation controls and removing bluetooth devices and registering again.

Also tried using usb cables for the ps4 controllers.

This issue has been ongoing with the pi4 for a long time now with my controllers.

I've tried everything i can think of and the fact it does it with usb connection it must be something seriously wrong with my controllers conflicting or my pi4.

      Any Ideas?

Update I have found some interesting videos on analog drift on controllers its possible even though the controllers are less than a year old and not been used much this could be an issue i have. I have tried the guides and test for approx 10 mins and so far ok but will need further testing. I never notice on ps4 but it might be less sensitive or noticable.
      Thanks
      Sim

Can you test the controller(s) with jstest from the command line, to see if the button presses are correctly registered ? When you scroll in EmulationStation, are you using the D-pad or the analog joysticks ?

My PS4 controllers do the same thing on Retropie, and have done on both my Pi4 and my Pi3B, so I assume it’s not the pads being worn or faulty.

            @mitu
I'm using dpad always I'll try the test and report back.
            Jstest passed all presses worked.
It seems to be behaving after following a youtube
Guide for resetting the controller and holding down analog sticks for 30 secs etc.. Also I cleaned the sticks.

I know I'm not using analog IN ES but if they are sticking sometimes maybe it causes issues.

I get the problem almost everytime and so far the last 4 reboots it's been fine.

Update problem has not come back since cleaning and following analog drift fix guides on YouTube. I didn't have to take apart controller. Very pleased.
