Aaand I seem to have been right doing this. Here's a first demonstration video of the recoil Sinden, and it's very loud:According to the last Indiegogo update, the recoil can be switched off for late gaming sessions. See there for more on the recoil and current status of the next deliveries.
I'm thinking the recoil noise level is probably similar to what is in an arcade system, but when you are not in an arcade with all the ambient noise it seems crazy loud and annoying. Definitely will be interesting to see how it holds up over time.

*Edit: Just ordered one!
Welcome to our select circle, brother.
-
I've asked my brother to get me one for Christmas, and he is never one to go rogue on present-giving. So I should be a member of the club at some point also.
-
I have two coming, both with recoil, and two holsters. Going to add them to my RetroPie arcade machine.

@clyde yeah not to sound too political but it's fair to assume shipping in and out of the UK from 1st Jan is going to be much much slower unfortunately

Guys, if you have some old lightgun like GCon2 or similar, you can mod it following this instructions from Jaybee's 4 IR Led lightgun project:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,161189.0.html?PHPSESSID=e9f64dnd6p0945ekevttokd743
In my YouTube channel you can see two of my modded lightguns in action:
And it works in Retropie too...
Enjoy!

A new update came two days ago.

The important part for all those who're still waiting for their guns:
If we hit the expected run rate then the schedule will be all orders #0-#5000 to go in March and #5000+ to go in April.
I'm one of the "lucky 5000", since my order is #4957. I put that in quotes since my Indiegogo Contribution had an estimated delivery date of November 2020.
While there's life, there's hope.
-
Nice!
I want one or two of these but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger (LOL) until the order/ship becomes a little more consistent and shorter duration.
-
5607 =/

@clyde I backed this on Kickstarter in 2019. Backer 882. The original delivery date was October 2019, but then life intervened. I have been patiently waiting for mine. Getting two with recoil. I believe mine is in Los Angeles right now and on the way to me. I have been getting my arcade cabinet ready for their use. Looking forward to trying them out.
-
@gamesman You have my sincerest sympathies. I hope you'll get your guns soon!
-
It is what it is. These small ventures coming up w/ something awesome and getting slammed w/ demand. PiBoy was the same thing.
-
Im #7000 something.. Backed it as late as Oct 2020. Will be awesome when they finally arrive, whenever that may be. In the meantime Im hunting a ps5 for retail-price...
No hard feelings against the Sinden guy, he seems like a very decent person. -

Another update! This time with a time table for estimated shipping by order numbers. Mine is aimed at April 12th if I read it correctly, but I'm not too confident in this date, as it is still more than a month in the future.
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-sinden-lightgun#/updates/all
What I don't understand is his explanation about (some of) the non-recoil guns being assembled first, followed by recoil guns at the end of the week when the new factory staff will be more experienced in their assembly. Yet the time table doesn't discriminate between recoil and non-recoil. (?)
That said, I remain very relaxed as long as the updates keep coming. 🙂

Mines looking like early May, but i doubt that. A virus, a brexit or a shipwreck is probably throw me curveball. but hey, waiting and anticipation is my game. :)
-
Has anyone set this up on RetroPie yet? Mine is on order, just wondered how easy it was to do. I haven't researched yet as I figured it might be a while before I get my gun.
-
@adambegood I've set it up with RetroPie. It's not terribly complicated to do, but there are several steps you have to deal with. The official Sinden Lightgun wiki has full setup instructions, or, optionally, a bare-bones prebuilt RetroPie image (no games included) that's already configured to work with the light gun.

Okay, I've read that now and it looks easy enough to do. Is it the same procedure for all Libretro cores as for the NES? I guess non-Libretro cores are a bit fiddlier, but I think everything I want to play will be fine with Libretro anyway.
