I am working on a project using as Pi3 and two NES controllers using the 8bitdo wireless kit. This console will highlight games that allow for 2 action buttons, A and B. I am attempting to expand my game selection to a number of Genesis and SNES games by adding functionality for a third action leveraging A+B.

      Input 1 = A
      Input 2 = B
      Input 3 = A+B

Is this possible for any SNES or Genesis emulator in Retropie?

Just responding to my own question in case others are interested. I did not find a way to map one action to two buttons pushed simultaneously with snes or genesis. This is of course possible with MAME.

My work around with genesis and snes was to leverage the select button for a third action. Preferably one that was not used often (i.e. spin jump in mario world).

Overall, I am pleased with my console build using NES controllers.

@cnoto said in Mapping one input to a combination of two buttons for Genesis and Snes:

Have you tried doing it manually by editing and loading a rmp file?
IE: the ones for Megadrive are located at "/opt/retropie/configs/megadrive/Genesis Plus GX/"
