      System Specifics:
      Raspberry Pi 4 / 4GB v1.2
      Linux 4.19.97-v71+
      Emulationstation 2.93RP
      RetroPie 4.6.7
Kingston 16GB USB3.0 (acting as redirected home via retropie-mount method)

I have set my retropie to play a video splashscreen via retropie_setup.sh however I am noticing the video fails to load intermittently

      Grep’ing /var/log/syslog shows the following:

      Sep 25 10:50:43 retropie asplashscreen.sh[298]: File "/home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/video/pi station.mp4" not found.

However, a successful launch shows this:

      Sep 25 10:52:46 retropie asplashscreen.sh[295]: Video codec omx-h264 width 1280 height 720 pro file 77 fps 25.000000
Sep 25 10:52:46 retropie asplashscreen.sh[295]: Audio codec aac channels 2 samplerate 44100 bi tspersample 16
      Sep 25 10:52:46 retropie asplashscreen.sh[295]: Subtitle count: 0, state: off, index: 1, delay : 0
      Sep 25 10:52:46 retropie asplashscreen.sh[295]: V:PortSettingsChanged: 1280x720@25.00 interlac e:0 deinterlace:0 anaglyph:0 par:1.00 display:0 layer:10000 alpha:255 aspectMode:0
      Sep 25 10:52:46 retropie asplashscreen.sh[295]: have a nice day ;)

Video file has been shamefully stolen from a popular video sharing site. I have confirmed the file is present in the indicated dir.

Any roms play fine from the memory stick so the home dir is being mounted correctly

Theoretically I could put the video file on the SD card and point /etc/splashscreens.list but I have not tried that yet.

Could there be a lag between the process that mounts the home directory on the memory stick and the omvplayer requesting the video file causing that file not found error?

      Thanks in advance

        correction:

        File "/home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/video/pistation.mp4" not found.

not sure why a "space" appeared the initial log dump
