lr-pcsx-rearmed missing in optional packages.. what now?

hey so i saw that this is installed by default now, but i can't get any PS2 roms to load on raspberry pi 4. was trying to follow this guide, but none of the packages show up as optional packages.
when i go to run a playstation rom the logs say everything is fine, but the game doesn't load - it just goes back to the selection screen.
is this an issue anyone else has encountered?

Is it PS2 or PS1 ? The
lr-pcsx-rearmedemulates only PS1 games. Check if you have the correct BIOS files - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Playstation-1/
