I am on a mac that can run other OS's. I try to run the Retropie image file within the Virtual Box application. I am on the latest OSX. I have read multiple articles on how to achieve emulation of the Retropie OS on mac but to no avail. I think you might need it to be an ISO image. I have tried converting as such but it does not seem to be compatible. I have redownloaded the file and tried multiple times with different guides. Same result.

Pi Model or other hardware: Mac Book Air 2017
      Power Supply used: N/A
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.6
Built From: Typical Retropie Image from here
      Made for Raspberry Pi 2/3

      USB Devices connected: None yet
      Controller used: None yet
      Error messages received:
FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted.
      Verbose log: N/A
      Guide used: here
File: /Users/mitchjones/Downloads/retropie-buster-4.6-rpi2_rpi3.img.gza and also in Downloads for files I converted to .dmg and .iso.
      Emulator: Virtual Box
Attachment of config files: here I think this is what you mean?
How to replicate the problem: Download above file, run in Virtual box. MUST BE ON OSX

The images from retropie.org.uk/download are not meant to be used on a PC (x86) platform, they will run only on a Raspberry PI (different CPU - ARM). The correct way to install RetroPie on a PC is described here - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Manual-Installation/.

To be honest, it looks a bit cumbersome to install a VM just to run RetroPie - there's bound to be better (and native) options of having an emulator run on macOS. Have you tried OpenEMU ?

That makes sense, can't believe it was that simple...
          Damn
I've used open emu in the past but will check if it works. Hadn't thought of it ha
          Cheers mate
