      Today I have upgraded to retropie 4.7 on raspberry 3B + but the menu interface goes very slow especially the fade effect on the check boxes.
      Scrolling is also very jerky and is not as smooth as before.

            Please do an update from RetroPie-Setup and the performance issue with EmulationStation should be sorted. Note you can either do a full update or update Retropie-Setup script, then EmulationStation.
