Hi all, I have some issues with the video scrapers.
      My system is as follows:

      Raspberry pi 3B
      Power supply 2.5A
      IPAC 2 controller
      Joysticks (8 positions)
      Retropie 4.7.1

I have used the Skyscraper in the retropie options, downloaded all videos etc but then nothing happened in the menus. Can't see any videos.
So i used the experimental package of Steven Selph's scraper.
Then went to the UI and enabled videos as scraper and HW, etc
I can see the videos in the Atari and Nintendo areas but not in Arcade or Mame. I checked the "images" folder inside the roms and all the videos are there. The name is ["game name" - video] but they don't work when i go to the Arcade section.

Does anyone know what am i doing wrong?

Also i would like to add a frame so when playing the game there are no black borders on the left and right of the screen, i got the frames from a place online but i don't know how to add them for the arcade/mame games

      Thanks in advance

They may be in the wrong video format. See here and here for scripts to convert the videos to a compatible format.

          @clyde thanks for your reply.
Just wondering if i could convert them to the right format in the laptop as it would take less time and then copy them into the same folder. Do you know which format it is?

Do the names need to be ["game name"-video]? or just the game name?

Also, do you know hoe to add a picture frame to the game while playing to "cover" the black frame around it? (4:3 game playing in a 16:9 monitor)

          Thanks again

Edit: i converted one to 320x240 and overwrote the file in the /images folder and it worked. Thanks you

It's explained in my first link. If this is the reason for your problem, you'll have to convert any video that is encoded with the YUV 4:4:4 colour format to YUV 4:2:0 instead. See Wikipedia on YUV for the technical details about those formats.

Alas, I can't help you with the picture frame, as I don't have any experience in doing such things.

research bezels. eg https://github.com/thebezelproject/BezelProject (not part of retropie, unsupported, etc)

@billy Did you remember to generate the gamelists within the Skyscraper menu after scraping the data? Otherwise nothing will happen. Remember to quit EmulationStation before doing this!

@muldjord thank you, yes the gamelist was generated and the links were ok. The videos were downloaded in the wrong format, so i converted them on the laptop and replace them in the /images folder. Now they work.
                    Thanks for the help
