      Hi all,

Very new to this and have come across a problem I can't solve straight away.

I followed the software installation steps from https://retropie.org.uk/docs/ and the pi boots up as I expected to the screen with the RetroPie logo and configuration option. Unfortunately the display has hundreds of static and blinking red pixels (which don't appear during the initial boot, configuring the input for the first time or when I access the terminal), so I think it's specific to the EmulationStation part. I've tried reinstalling the image but the same thing happens. I've tried it on a monitor and TV, same issue on both.

      Pi 4
Official Power Supply (from Pi Hut)
      RetroPie Version 4.7
Built From pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: Controller and keyboard
      Controller used: 8BitDo SN30 pro+
      Error messages received: None

This is nothing more than an annoying problem, as I've just loaded a couple of ROMs and the issue isn't there during gameplay. I can live with it, but if someone knows how to fix it I'd be hgely thankful.

      Thanks.

A silly question ... but have you tried another HDMI Cable ? (i assume you're using a HDMI cable and i assume you used the same one with the monitor and tv)

I've had HDMI cables go bad and then display lots of static/dots which can be red or green and usually don't show during a boot of device, but will appear once a UI is launched.

@dreamcastkid Hi, no I haven't yet as I don't have another micro HDMI to hand, but I'm picking one up today just in case. I'd assumed it wouldn't be that because the display is fine in certain screens but I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong.

New cable has made no difference unfortunately. Another oddity is that when I scroll left or right through the emulators (and the transition style is set to 'fade') the red pixels all disappear and only reappear when I stop scrolling.

It's not the biggest issue, just would like to understand what's causing it so I can learn a bit more about it.
