      @zering My WinSCP decided to not connect this morning, so here's the log straight off the Pi.

        @mcjones9631 Hmmm I'm no expert but if I'm reading this correctly your installation just can't find your core. I suggest you try reinstalling the core from source.

        @Folly Any ideas?

          @zering Reinstalling the core now! Let's hope that was the issue. Thanks for the help!

            @zering Well, slight problem. I got an error message midway through installation, reading "Could not successfully build lr-np2kai - PC98 emu Modified Neko Project II port for libretro (/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/lr-np2kai/sdl2/np2kai_libretro.so not found).

              @mcjones9631 Is it possible that the same message appeared when you first installed the core and did not notice it?

                @zering I don't think so? It's had me go through a bunch of error log information about it, I would've remembered that thinking I screwed something up somehow. I just tried installing it from binary and it appears to have installed fine somehow that way.

                  @mcjones9631 Now that you've reinstalled from binary is there any change when you try to start a game?

                    @zering It booted up fine, I thought for a second I didn't have any controls but I guess I needed a keyboard and not my arcade controls oops. Runs really slowly but it works! Thanks for the help!

                      @mcjones9631 Nope, PC98 games were played with controllers for the most part. You can adjust that setting in the Retroarch menu. Likewise for speed, the CPU Clock Multiplier makes a significant difference. But for full-speed PC98 emulation you'll need a Pi 4.
                      I suggest you look at the Old Computer Appreciation thread in General discussion, there's a wealth of information on the PC98 there. We've discussed it a fair bit so feel free to ask any questions.

                        I read it.
                        So it seems to be fixed with the binary install.

                        Perhaps you had a bad internet connection while updating the packages for installing the source.

                        Did you have a crash while updating ?

                        Try to update/upgrade your pi with apt.
                        If all goes well you can try to install the source again.
