I'm having a bit of bother with my Pi3 and RetroPie 3.7 crashing fairly frequently.

This is sometimes when playing a snes game (e.g Zelda & Super Mario), sometimes while just idling on the main menu, but most often when copying large amounts of data.

I'm using CyberDuck on my Mac with the Pi connected to my router via Ethernet.

When copying files, the Menu is considerably slower, and it has been suggested to me that my SD card (64gb Samsung from a few years ago) might be to blame. I am going to try a full format and check tonight.
I am also going to be testing my power supply tonight with a multi meter to ensure that it is giving enough juice.

My question is, are there noticeable performance/stability increases from having a smaller SD card running the OS, and having all my ROMS on an external USB?

      Thanks
      TMP

power or an overclock could cause it. also, have you got a Bluetooth PS3 controller? search the forum for a crashing issue regarding that.

storage method should have no relation, unless it's exacerbating an existing power issue I suppose. i use both with 100% stable systems.

          Thanks dankcushions,

I had seen the Bluetooth issues on the Pi 3 and think that might have been related to some of my earlier freezes.

I think my next step it to see what power my supply is giving...
