I have two Retropie systems at home.
I have managed to put all my roms and savefile/savestate files on my NAS.
I have pointed both systems to use the roms and savefiles on the NAS.

I can start a game on the first Retropie and do a savestate (and load that savestate), it shows up on my NAS, all good.

If I start the same game on my second Retropie I cannot load that savestate file. I can just make a new save file, but then my other
file that was created with my first Retropie get overwritten.

So everything works fine with roms and savefiles on my NAS if I only use one Retropie.

I would like to play on my first Retropie, do a savestate, then continue to play on my second Retropie.

Userrights on my NAS share is correct, as I have no problem creating new savestate files.

@hakan77 Is there a "file open and locked" issue when both Pis are in use?

@iandaemon No, I just tried. Started a game on my first Retropie, created a savestate, left that Retropie on with the game running, started my second Retropie and I could start the same game without any issues. But couldn't load the savestate from the first Retropie, did a new savestate on my second Retropie, and the savestate from my first was overwritten. I then tried to load that savestate on my first Retropie, didn't work, but I could create a new savestate that overwrite the savestate from my second Retropie.

@hakan77 Are you using the same emulator version? Might it be something like the emulator not recognizing the format if it's a different version? (MAME 2003 vs MAME 2010 for example)

@iandaemon I have only tried with the default emulator for SNES and NES, I haven't changed any settings on any of the emulators. My systems are the Retroflag GPi Case ang Retroflag NESPi 4 Case if that matters.

@hakan77 The version of the emulators is more important - are they installed from the same image/updated to the same version of RetroPie ?

@mitu They are installed from the official Retropie image. I just fetched the latest setup script on both and did a basic install, no change. Any other suggestions? Thanks for helping!

@hakan77 Are you sure you're using the same emulator on both systems ? The default emulators for Pi 0 vs the Pi4 may be different for each system.

@mitu That was indeed the problem, using the same emulator fixed everything! Thank you so much, I was going crazy there for a while. Merry Christmas to all of you!
