lr-pcsx-rearmed with dolphinbar, Lightgun
-
Hi Folks im pretty new to retropie and emulation on linux (but not linux itself) so please bare with me :) Tried many things with no success so yeah thats why i need your help.
With the original installed lr-pcsx-rearmed i had in the retroarch core menu -> Quickmenu the options of "PadTypes" where i was able to change the Controllers based on what i want to use (negcon, analog, guncon etc)
Both Time Crisis titles worked totally fine there with guncon (recognized as guncon in the game) but games which are using A + B on the guncon werent registering. Like Gunfighter and Resident Evil Survivor.
So i thought - kay i will try to update lr-pcsx-rearmed via the sources maybe there is a fix for that on master. Removed the old and did "install from source" via Retropie Setup.
Now the "PadTypes" in the Quickmenu are gone and i cant use ANY Controller by now i also checked the main menu option input and the quickmenu controls menu and changed types around - with no success
Next step was a complete update of Retropie also with Kernel Updates - same thing.
And last thing i tried is to use the sinden lightgun branch (https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/23533/lightgun-support-added-to-pcsx-rearmed)
it successfully git cloned and compiled it - but still same issues - i have no padtypes anymore and no controller is responding in lr-pcsx-rearmed
Can someone atleast give me some directions if this is an config issue, or how i can choose a "specific branch or version" of lr-pcsx-rearmed to get atleast normal controllers working again - seems like i would have to manually purge everything based on lr-pcsx-rearmed ?
thank you

There's a new Core option - Show other input options. Try toggling it on, restart the game, then go again in settings and disable the Multitap options - the controller(s) should be working again.
For the type of controller, use the Controls menu and change the Device Type to what you need (guncon/dualshock/etc.). -
Oh wow thank you so much - that was the Problem indeed.
For other Users:
Quickmenu -> Options -> "Other Input Options" set to on
Restart via Retroarch and set both Multitaps to OFF
Go into Controls Section into Quickmenu and set the wanted Controller
Save the Input Remap for the Core
Save the Overwrite Options for the Core
Quit out from Retroarch and restart via Emulationstation - everything should work from now on again. (Even Timecrisis with Dolphinbar works again for me !)Other Question though - right now using the original code again from libretro for lr-pcsx-rearmed. Do you know how i can play games (other emu ?!) which are using A+B Buttons at the Guncon ?
Seems like lr-pcsx-rearmed only maps the A Button - Games which are using A+B dont even recognize the Guncon. Games i want to play are
Resident Evil Survivor
Gunfighter - The Legend of Jesse JamesAgain - thank you so much for the help

I'm not familiar with how a Guncon works, but as far as the emulator is concerned, if the core supports it, then you should be able to map it to the RetroPad's buttons/joypsticks. The Controls menu doesn't show the lightgun controls, but in Settings -> Input, you can try to map the guncon's controls to the RetroPad's buttons. Unfortunately, due to a bug in RetroArch, all the lightgun control labels appear as N/A in that menu, so it's a bit of trial and error to get them mapped.
I think by default the mapping is Trigger,A,B = Left/Right/Middle mouse (?). I think @pjft might know more, maybe he'll chime in. -
@mitu
Will browse a lil bit through the code maybe i can read it out.
Thank you very much for your help :D
