No music after quitting pixel back to ES launched from startx
-
Hi,
Pi Model: 3B rev 1.2
Power Supply used: Official
RetroPie Version: 4.7.1
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
Error messages received: lvl10: VolumeControl ::init() failed to find mixer elements
How to replicate the problem:-
Install Retropie 4.7.1 from retropie web
-
Install pixel desktop from setup script
-
Install Naprosnia's BGM Player 2.0
-
Restart the system, the default music will start playing. If at this point you go into BGM player settings you will get 3 times the "lvl10: VolumeControl ::init() failed to find mixer elements".
-
Run Pixel from ES (.sh file containing just startx)
-
Music keeps on playing in Pixel, Shutdown > exit to command line, music stops and never resumes unless you restart the system. Plus, I get the "lvl10: VolumeControl ::init() failed to find mixer elements" error message before swapping back to ES.
-
Any other emulator makes the music to pause and it resumes after you quit the game and go back to ES.
I connect my Pi through HDMI, AudioCard is default, AudioDevice is Master.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Ok, I got rid of the lvl error messages by editing the bgm_system.sh file in the bgm player dir by changing:
readonly CHANNEL="Master"
But the main issue still persists: exiting pixel desktop seems to kill audacious completely.
It can be revived with
sudo audacious
then
bash $HOME/RetroPie-BGM-Player/bgm_system.sh -i
to initiate the BGM playlist. But quitting Pixel still means no music in ES...

Nobody has faced this issue before? download and install retropie 471 fom official website, configure wifi, install pixel, then bgm player... Literally nothing else, not even an extra emulator.

I think I faced exactly the same thing as you yesterday. I got an error message where it said something about the audio, sorry don't remember the error message. I tried a few things and gave up and just installed everything (Raspbian and Retropie) again. It should be another way though..... Its absurd you have to reinstall an OS because of this....
