      Hi there

Pi Model or other hardware: pi 4 model B
      Power Supply used: official
      RetroPie Version Used : 4.7.6
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: none
      Controller used: ps4 wireless
      Error messages received: none
      Emulator: mupen64plus-GlideN64(high res)
      Attachment of config files: N/A

Just wanted to ask if there's any tweaks I can make to my rPi4 for better n64 performance (already overclocked) specifically on the GlideN64 emulator? There are some games that work great on it such as WCW/nWo Revenge where it's just the audio that fails as it's very crackly in some bits. On No Mercy its the audio and major lagging. I'm aware that lr-mupen64-next probably gives the best all round performance. I've searched for things like this on here and the only thing I could find that relates is something that the new version of RetroPie should have fixed anyway. Any ideas would be appreciated?

@hawkes_84 first thing to check is

        opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg

Look for the audio sdl section near the top of the file. There should be a section that says audio resampling or something like that. Change to "trivial" if something else is listed there. That will fix the crackling issue and improves audio latency. (This issue was fixed a while back but then got reverted somehow).

Also gliden64-hires is going to be more demanding since it runs in 640x480 mode which is essentially doubling the native resolution of most games. You should be running just the standard gliden64 as the default emulator and only using the hi-res version on a case by case basis.

@hawkes_84 youll need to use an editing program like nano. So in the terminal type:

            sudo nano /opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg

Edit the section I told you to then press cntrl+x to exit. When it prompts you if you want to save your changes make sure you press y.

@quicksilver thanks a lot for this. Worked a treat on the crackling sounds I was experiencing
