      The whole directory /opt/retropie/emulators/mame :
      mame0233_RPI4_Buster_32bit
(File Life: 30 days after no activity.)

      Edit :
      No need to download anymore.
Retropie has updated the mame binary to 0233.

Option (line 11) doesn't work for me. Is it the same for you.

          Do you use add-mamedev-systems-test6_temp.sh ?

I got your last version from your link above : add-mamedev-systems.sh
I have used line 10 instead of line 11. Line 11 doesn't work for me when it's time to load systems by letters.

Which link ?, be sure you use temp.
Did you remove other versions ?

No problem for me, I can select line 11.
                Just installed those.

I picked it fresh from github, so it should work.

I created an issue on github for mame.
                    https://github.com/mamedev/mame/issues/8274
                    Hopefully they can fix it.

Retropie added a precompiled MAME 0.233. So now it’s fine from binary

                          Ok, I will check.
(edit: yes, indeed retropie updated it to 0233 !)

But the temp front-end module-script doesn't depend on mame because of the drc issue.
So this was an other issue I presume.

I tried to run these :

                            • benesse pocket challenge MAME name POCKCHAL
                            • Tiger Gizmondo : MAME name GIZMONDO
                            • Zeebo (Brasil) : MAME name: ZEEBO

                            No luck so far.

While busy with these, I found roms for other handheld systems and those are working.
I have to see on my other pi4 what these systems are.
But I think you have them already working as they booted in Artwork.

Btw. there is bad output from mame -softwarelist

                                pi@raspberrypi:~ $ /opt/retropie/emulators/mame/mame -listsoftware pockchal

                                    pockstat

Great !!! On my end, what I have been able to get to work as portable or keyboard less systems is listed here.

gamecom, gamepock and pockstat are in that list.
BTW , the artwork for pockstat is from me. I created that one (-; I always thought the Sony Pocket Station looked like a baby radio monitor. Strange design

Yes indeed I should have known it right away.
But it was obvious as the artwork was already there :-)

We could just add these and more in the front-end menu in the menu option :
                                      Handhelds / Plug & play

                                      What do you think ?
Or is that too much ?

For now I added all the systems from your list, except nes_detach as this system can't be installed by the script.
                                            link_to_commit

Perhaps we have to alter the name of the menu item and perhaps I have to take the same route as I now do with temporary mame database.
Then we could just pick out the lines we want to add without rewriting them.
Then we could also choose to install on systems or on descriptions.
(I am not doing that now, but we can perhaps do this in the future.)
