I have a pi4 and was making a few changes in the above file. The changes I made were to the mame enable mouse line. I changed wherever it said ="disabled" to "enabled" from 2003 on up. I'm basically trying to get my spinner to work. I went to restart the pi and tried a game which i found out still didn't work after applying the changes. I opened the cfg file in word pad, made the changes, and then saved it. Now I go back to try and open it and it has 0 KB. I have no idea what i did. This is basically all very new to me. I'm trying to read as much as I can. I just really don't understand all this. I still have the IMG and I may just have to reformat and start over. any ideas?

The options file is re-created when you start (and close) and game. Try doing that and see if the file is created again. You don't need to edit the file to change the option - you can do so from RetroArch's GUI, which you can access by pressing Hotkey + X, under the Options menu.

So, if I want to reset global settings (all settings for all emulators, except per game settings) of Quick Menu -> Options, I just need to delete retroarch-core-options.cfg from /opt/retropie/configs/all/, and retroarch-core-options.cfg with default settings will be created automatically?

@mitu my original post was 15 days ago. What i did was start all over from the beginning. Reformat card and load img back on card. I am now writing notes as to what i do if i make changes to anything. Like i mentioned, i am completely new to all this. I know I'll get better but for now its all learning. Anyway, I did get my spinner to work in tempest and Tron now
