The C64 VICE emulator used to just 'work' now it seems like I am having all sorts of trouble with the sound. After playing for a bit, it gives me a hardware sound device stalled. Can someone give me what setting you use to just work? Like machine type etc. Also where can I find the disk drive sound emulation? I found it one time but cannot find that again.

Pi Model or other hardware: (4 with 8GB ram)
Power Supply used: (USB C via usb)
      RetroPie Version Used (4.71)
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website)
USB Devices connected: Rii keyboard dongle
      Controller used: miadore
Error messages received: hardware sound device stalled
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide)
Emulator: (VICE) (not lr-vice), and both the source and binary installation
How to replicate the problem: Just install the emulator, switch to joysticks play any game and it will fail pretty quickly.

      Please help!

@cmftblynu I have been just looking at this and noticed issues with the sound getting disabled.

I may roll back to an older version. Actually this module has required a lot of changes to fix various problems due to upstream changes so I may lock it to the last working release and only update to a newer release when tested.

Will update when I have a solution.

@buzz How do you roll back to an older version? I only know how to update the binary or from source, or do you have a command line prompt to get an older version, because I would do the same if they are having issues.

I have rolled it back in the module. Rolling back a version depends on the source and other factors. Can't give a simple answer.

But this is changed In RetroPie now so if you update RetroPie-Setup script and then update/install vice from source it will build the v3.5 version which doesnt have the issue. Or wait a couple of hours and update from binary (binaries are rebuilding).
