      I've been experimenting with getting my N64 games to look better on my Pie. I have found that shaders are complete out of the question (which is what I would normally use), since they slow everything way down.

      I tried bilinear filtering, and it looks OK, but doesn't cause any strain on the emulation. But I also noticed there are options for texture filtering and texture enhancement (like X2SAI). Was wondering if there is a better combination of filtering affects I can apply instead of just global bilinear interpolation being set to "on" in Retroarch (that would also not affect performance).

      EDIT:
      I did find a few shaders that seem to not affect performance or cause slowdown, but I'm still interested in thoughts on people's texture filter setups.

        @alphabetapie please be specific about the options you are referring to (which menu, etc). if i recall, those options are applied on textures, NOT the overall screen (like shaders would), so they’re not analogous.

        also please be specific about the emulator you are using. https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

        as for me, i use defaults only. n64 textures are so low resolution that adjusting the texture filtering seems redundant and/or affects the authenticity. if it didn’t affect the speed (i’ve not tested) i would use n64 3-point texture filtering as it’s most authentic

          @dankcushions Thanks. I prefer shaders, as the zFast gives you a nice touch of bilinear with scanlines. I found the curved version was slowing things down, but when I went with standard, it was fine. I guess that little extra processing step to warp the edges was just a little too much. When I remove that, things work pretty well (and look great).
