Changing Aspect Ratio on 16:9 monitor to 4:3 in Emulation Station

I’m attempting to set the emulation station from 16:9 to 4:3. I built an arcade cabinet back 15+ years ago and now I’m finally making the switch to retropie. Also switching from old tv to flatscreen more for ease. My computer crashed about 5 years ago and I was still running mamewah front end from way back in the day from an XP machine if anyone remembers that. I understand I can change each emulator in the settings and I even went into the advanced options of retropie and changed resolutions of monitor to 4:3 but that didn’t help. I know I’ve got to load a new theme to make it look great and I’ve got that ready with the comic 4:3 layout.
How do I force this widescreen to be 4:3 in the emulation station so that it makes sense still in my cabinet as all the games I play will be 4:3 or vertical. Thanks for the help.
