Hi Everyone,
trying to get retro pie going for my first time and running into some issues.
When I run:
sudo ./retropie_packages.sh sdl2 install_bin
These are the results:
here is my system setup:
Pi Model or other hardware: i3 dell desktop running ubuntu 20.04
Power Supply used: (If using a Pi)
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.7.11
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website, Berryboot, or on top of existing OS etc.. - please provide the filename of any image used) -- git clone -- https://github.com/RetroPie/Retropie-Setup.git
USB Devices connected: USB dongle and WIFI dongle but currently running ethernet into eth0
Controller used: none yet but plan on using ps3
Error messages received: 'gpg: no valid OpenGPG data found'
Verbose log (if relevant):
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide)
File: (File with issue - with FULL path)
Emulator: (Name of emulator - if applicable)
Attachment of config files: (PLEASE USE PASTEBIN.COM FOR LARGE LOGS)
How to replicate the problem: -
@retronaff said in emulationstation -- 'Error Initializing SDL!':
sudo ./retropie_packages.sh sdl2 install_bin
Why are you running this specifically ? Use the RetroPie-Setup based installation to install RetroPie, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Debian/.

@mitu I'm running it because after running the install package, rebooting, I get this error:
as listed in my notes of my previous post, you can see the setup/install git clone I used.
-
@mitu I googled a solution to my original error, 'Error initializing SDL!' -- no available video device, and someone had fixed this issue by running sdl2.
I'm getting the GPG error when running the install which I believe is my overall issue.
How do I import the GPG key into retropie so it can install the said drivers?
-
@mitu so i was able to get it working by importing the gpg key.
all is well!!
