This may be a dumb question. But was wondering if I can take my old SD card from my Pi3 B+ that has all my configs. To a Pi4 and just update retropie?

        Nope.

There are many hardware differences between the 3 and 4 which will cause many problems trying to boot the wrong image. This is why there are different images for the Pi 2/3 and the Pi4/400.

@chaalsbawkley Are you trying to save everything or just your ROMs? Im used to Lakka OS but I do keep a copy of my settings and files so I can transfer them easily. Especially thumbnails, they take forever to download if you have a a bunch of roms and systems.

Maybe not all of your configs will be transfer neatly.
