Does Your Mame Screen Ever Auto Flip?

I'm having a quirky issues in my Mame collection, literally only with one title. When I first launch Lethal Enforcers, it's rotated 90* close-wise and is laying on its' side. I assume this has to do with the nature of the layout of the original cabinet. I can go into the menu and adjust it, and this seems to correct itself.
Is this a normal thing for this to happen for this and other games (although I've not seen any others in my collection do this)? And where is this setting saved now, so I can include it in future backups?
