Issues with bluetooth on 4.7
-
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what my issue is with pairing 2 8bitdo N30 pro controllers to my retro pie setup (recently upgraded from 3.x -> 4.7 onto a raspberry pi 4 from a 3b+). Trying for the last 3 days straight, putting the controllers into all sorts of modes, updating firmware, etc. Finally came across this post: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/27641/8bitdo-sf30-sn30-pro-controller-bluetooth-pairing-trouble-after-updating-retropi-on-pi4/8
Downgraded my retropie to 4.6 (had to do some sleuth work to build the url to 4.6 using internet archive) and am able to pair my controllers again! So here I am, posting an issue with bluetooth in 4.7. 1 (not sure what else to do other than say something here)
Pi Model or other hardware: 4/4gb
Power Supply used: Canakit
RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.1
Built From: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/releases/download/4.7.1/retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi4_400.img.gz
USB Devices connected: keyboard
Controller used: N30 Pro 2
Error messages received: None, just couldn't find the devices in the bluetooth list when attempting pairing
Guide used: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/8Bitdo-Controller/
How to replicate the problem: Install retropie 4.7.1 to SD using pie PI imager. Install SD card and boot. Go to config->bluetooth. Put N30 pro into pairing mode, search for controller. Might be found if the planets aligned like one of mine did. The other one did not. Even bought a replacement (new) thinking it was the controller, same issue. Removed the first controller and tried to repair the second or third. No dice (not even finding it). Re-imaged, and started over. tried with second or third controller first, no dice.. Now wont even find the first one... Found post about going back to 4.6, did so, each controller paired on first try and stayed paired... -
I'm facing the same problem. Could you post the tutorial of how to do the downgrade?
edit: this post on raspi stack worked for me https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/122429/raspberry-pi-4-wont-pair-to-bluetooth-devices/123914

@rafaz182 having the same issue with 4.7.1. Downgraded to 4.6 with a new flash but stopped working after doing an "apt upgrade" on 4.6 - did this fix you posted worked on 4.7.1?
