      I have a Pi4B running a recently downloaded official image from retropie. I can't seem to get my resolution to change despite several attempts. I've looked through numerous forum posts and the official docs trying a few different options but just can't see to get it to work.

      I have a Hannspree HF225 monitor which is connected to the mini-HDMI port (closest to the power supply) then connects to an HDMI to DVI cable going to the DVI input on the monitor. The monitor supports a res of 1920x1080 but RetroPie only seems to want to display 640x480.

      Here is my current config.txt file options:

      hdmi_safe=1
      disable_overscan=0
      hdmi_force_hotplug=1
      hdmi_group=2
      hdmi_mode=82
      config_hdmi_boost=9

      Here is the output from a couple of tvservice commands:

      pi@retropie:/boot $ tvservice -s
      state 0x6 [DVI CUSTOM RGB full 4:3], 640x480 @ 60.00Hz, progressive
      pi@retropie:/boot $ tvservice -p
      Powering on HDMI with preferred settings

      pi@retropie:/boot $ tvservice -m dmt
      Group DMT has 19 modes:
        (prefer) mode 4: 640x480 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:25MHz progressive
                 mode 5: 640x480 @ 72Hz 4:3, clock:31MHz progressive
                 mode 6: 640x480 @ 75Hz 4:3, clock:31MHz progressive
                 mode 8: 800x600 @ 56Hz 4:3, clock:36MHz progressive
                 mode 9: 800x600 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:40MHz progressive
                 mode 10: 800x600 @ 72Hz 4:3, clock:50MHz progressive
                 mode 11: 800x600 @ 75Hz 4:3, clock:49MHz progressive
                 mode 16: 1024x768 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:65MHz progressive
                 mode 17: 1024x768 @ 70Hz 4:3, clock:75MHz progressive
                 mode 18: 1024x768 @ 75Hz 4:3, clock:78MHz progressive
                 mode 21: 1152x864 @ 75Hz 4:3, clock:108MHz progressive
                 mode 32: 1280x960 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:108MHz progressive
                 mode 35: 1280x1024 @ 60Hz 5:4, clock:108MHz progressive
                 mode 36: 1280x1024 @ 75Hz 5:4, clock:135MHz progressive
                 mode 42: 1400x1050 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:121MHz progressive
                 mode 47: 1440x900 @ 60Hz 16:10, clock:106MHz progressive
                 mode 51: 1600x1200 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:162MHz progressive
                 mode 58: 1680x1050 @ 60Hz 16:10, clock:146MHz progressive
                 mode 82: 1920x1080 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:148MHz progressive

      Let me know if there is any other info I can provide to help troubleshoot this.

        This forces the 640x480 resolution, you should remove or comment this line in order for the other options to take effect. The config_hdmi_boost option is not needed on a Pi4.

          @mitu This was the fix, thank you! I think this might have been a remnant of my original setup cause I was having some HDMI issues with a black screen initially.

          For some reason this fix broke my audio, but I was able to get that working again after about 30 minutes of tinkering.

          Thanks for the assist!
