Can you download ROMs directly to the SD card?
-
I am going to get a PI Zero today and it DOES NOT have a reg. USB plug. There is one other micro USB, and that’s for my controller. Is it possible?

I think you'll need a Linux PC to access the card directly (except the
/boot
Partition, which can be seen by Windows, but is not where the roms go so that won't help.) I think you'll have to unplug your controller, add roms via the one micro-USB port, and then reconnect the controller. If it's not too late to change, I'd suggest a Zero-W (wireless) model instead of the standard Zero. With the built-in WiFi of the -W, transferring roms is trivial.

If the Pi has internet access, you can use
wget
on RetroPie's command line to download files directly to the sd card. See here for one of the countless wget guides on the web.- To go to the command line, press
F4
in Emulation Station. - To go back to Emulation Station, enter
exit
or pressCtrl+d
.
