Long Press to exit or reset game.
-
Hey all, I have been searching for a topic on this but I have not seen anything specific in regards to using a long press of both select and start (for example), to reset/exit a game. As it stands now it is far too easy to accidentally hit both and exit and also too annoying to disable the hotkey and exit via the retroarch menu. I would LOVE to be able to have something like a 'hold for 3 seconds' option, is this possible, perhaps using a script?
It seems like a no-brainer to have this as an option (as it is used often on other systems), but I have not seen anything that talks about button duration triggers, just button assignments.

That option exists, but not when using a hotkey. You can re-enable the exit confirmation present in current(ish) RetroArch versions and you'd be asked to press again the exit combo (Hotkey + Start) instead of exiting right away. The option is in
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
- setquit_press_twice = "true"

Thank you for the quick reply.
I am trying to understand what you mean. I can use the 'press hold for 3+ seconds to exit' as long as I don't use a hotkey? The other part about changing the exit confirmation to "true" I get (which would definitely be better than nothing), but just not sure how/if I can change the trigger to exit the game based on button press duration specifically.
Sorry if I am just misunderstanding what you mean.

Yes, that was the wording, but I think I've confused the exit option with some other binding - I can't find any exit related option in RetroArch's menu.
