Bangai-O and lr-Flycast Issue

Hopefully some kind soul can help me as Bangai-O is basically the ONE game I want to play but can't on my pi4. I would like to use a lr- emulator when possible.
The game boots but whenever there's screen scroll or explosions in game (perhaps the explosion sounds actually), there's a horrendous amount of stuttering. I hesitate to use the word 'lag' because the stuttering is particularly jittery and "different" than the lag i've experienced in the past using emulators.
I've looked around and found a couple posts already. One which mentioned turning audio sync off (which does help - just not enough). The other indicated a BIOS issue and to use a certain one needed by flycast. I tried replacing my dc bios to no avail. Plus 'use hle bios' is switched off in the settings.

@romhackfanatic Yeah bangai-o stuttering is usually a lack of bios. You just need to download the dc bios, create a dc folder in retropie's bios folder, and then put dc_boot and dc_flash inside it.
