Switch Pro Bluetooth for Raspberry Pi 4

I have seen many posts where the switch pro controller can connect, but it seems these are mostly for 3Bs. I have a 4 and cannot finish the pairing process. I can get the bluetooth to see my pro controller, but then when it asks me to select authentication method, it hangs. It never fails or anything, just waits till I have to force kill it. Has anyone paired a switch controller with a raspberry pi 4 using retropie?

Yeah I use my switch pro controller, I havent done any extra configuration at all and it pairs just fine. Can you try another bluetooth controller? Dualshock 4 or Xbone one controller?
If this is your first time pairing via bluetooth, you might want to check that your bluetooth is working correctly with this command in the terminal:
systemctl status bluetooth.service
