Hi, how do i change the input without using the configure input menu ?
I have tried retro arch, those options wont allow me to change buttons.

I want to change the NES buttons only.

Jumping in mario needs to be B
Running in mario needs to be Y

      thanks

I don't know what you tried, but yes that is how you're supposed to do it. That's how I did it. That's what I did. I did that. And it worked.

Did you open RetroArch Quick Menu with (default) Select+X? Did you go to Controls and then Port {n} Controls? Did you save a game remap file or core remap file when you were done?

You can manually set them up by core or game by following this https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#hardcoded-configurations

If you need to figure out your controllers button values just scroll up a bit from that link or go here https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#determining-button-values

@wild-snail you're welcome. The answer is usually in the documentation if you know where to look

Edit: I apologize if that came off sarcastic or snarky or something to that effect. I really didn't mean it that way.

I solved it in the retroarch menu itself,
There are many buttons, all set to garbage, i changed everything.
That i got it now does not take away your menu is unclear.
