Hi, I've been tweaking the configuration of my Retropie, and need help figuring out how to modify video snap behavior. Namely, I want to stop the video snaps from looping, and only have them play once.

I've already made a tweak so that I have both boxart and snaps, so when I scroll to a game the boxart appears first, then after a delay the video snap starts playing (replacing the box art). Then, if I stay on that game, the video snap will just keep looping endlessly.

What I'd like is to have the it behave like this:

      1. Scroll to a game
      2. Boxart is shown
      3. After a delay video snap starts playing (replacing the box art)
      4. Video only plays once
      5. After the video finishes, the video goes away and the boxart appears again
      6. To watch the video snap again, I'd have to scroll to another game, then back again

The two parts I don't know how to do are:

      • Video only plays once
      • After the video finishes, the video goes away and the boxart appears again

If the second part isn't possible (making the boxart reappear), is it at least possible to make the video snap only play once?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think this is currently supported by EmulationStation, once the video component plays the video, it's looping until the game is deselected or the screensaver/power saving kicks in.

@mitu Dang, sad to hear that.

Is it possible for me to modify EmulationStation itself? How do change ideas get submitted to ES?

            https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation

You can clone the repository and change anything you want, then compile it locally.

Open an "issue" on the GitHub, or if you're good with coding, you can make the changes yourself and submit a "pull request."
