Games will not save in games designated save spots...

Games will not save to designated save spots within them, then I turn it back on all the data is gone. I'm not trying to have a whole library of save states. I've literally adjusted none of the settings whatsoever. Is there something that can be done to have games save as they normally would? Any help wwould be greatly appreciated many games have been lost to this....

@guitargod519 in-game saves work for me. To preserve the life of your SD card, game RAM is only written to file on program exit. If you power-off, if it crashes, or otherwise exits ungracefully, your recent saves will be lost. Are you exiting cleanly with select + start?
Please provide some more info about your setup as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@sleve_mcdichael I did't even think to exit out the game and console with exit and start I just usually click it off, I would say I could try that and see if it works but i've had a incident recently with zelda for Nintendo, I'm well aware some of these games have issues like this so i did a test save worked fine and continued to let me overwrite previous saves......and then this last time I saved it didn't recognize the most recent save file and slapped me into my save file from hours earlier. It's just crazy to me any free emulators and roms i've had never had this problem.

This is a computer, not a calculator. You need to do a proper shutdown before cutting power.

@sleve_mcdichael got some nerve saying I abuse my calculators like that lol
