PCSX-Rearmed over Duckstation
-
Now that Duckstation is dead, is PCSX-Rearmed THE go-to for Playstation emulation on the RP4?
Secondly, is it safe to update to the latest version? I know that often can break things.
Thank you!

@Drdave79
Yes, lr-pcsx-rearmed is the only available option for now,but if you still have a backup of lr - duckstation core , you can still install and used it.
By the way, the RetroPie developers are working to bring the standalone version of Duckstation.I am using the latest version without problems but before i update i create a backup first.

@windg I always back up as well. Thank you for the quick reply. I'll keep both and continue to swap for which one gives me the best performance.

Swanstation is a 'legal' fork and available on all Retroarch platforms except RetroPie, because...reasons. Shaders are one of the only reasons for RetroPie to continue to exist. :P

It is my understanding that stand-alone emulators are, in general, more performant than their retroarch counterparts due to reduced overhead.

Swanstation is buggy and slow on other OSes, almost useless on some games.

@sleve_mcdichael this was my understand however; They made a whole lot of changes to the default core for Playstation mainly proper dynarec support. Every game I played that had bugs/slow down have been fixed. Crash team racing is a prime example. Its like they resurrected RaRmEd from the dead or something.
