      Pi Model: 4b
      Power Supply used: LabistsModel XSD-
      RetroPie Version Used : 4.8
      Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: keyboard and pinout board
      Controller used: pinout momentary contact buttons & joystick
      Error messages received: no error message noticable
      Verbose log (if relevant):
      Guide used: Followed instructions from Retropie site
      File: (File with issue - with FULL path)
      Emulator: Emulation station, Mame2003
      Attachment of config files: not sure which files needed for diagnosis
      How to replicate the problem: Every install

      On initial setup going into retroarch > settings > input , I don't see the typical 'input hotkey binds" followed by the 'input user 1 binds" listing.
      Instead i see "hotkeys" followed by 'port 1 controls", 'port 2 controls' etc... .
      I've done new installs over this same pi unit before but never had this issue which is messing up quite a few things. Any ideas how to get back the "input user 1 binds" ?

      Also when I setup all my push button / joystick controls initially with my keyboard, the controls work fine but when i unplug the keyboard (I don't need it once the buttons & joystick are configured) the buttons no longer work.
      I've done a few installations like the above and never had this issue before.
      Initially I thought it was the pinout board & buttons but tried others with same result.
      Any ideas?

        You can't get it back, a few years back the input configuration in RetroArch has been redesigned, including the renaming of User X Binds to Port X Controls. They should have the same functionality - did you find anything that is missing and you can't do in the new menu ?

          @mitu I have a trackball and a spinner. I used to be able to set my "Port 1 Bind = 1" to default to my trackball. then if I wanted a spinner for any game I would create a <gamename>.zip.cfg in the folder with the rom in it eg "tron.zip.cfg" in that file I would just have 2 lines:
          input_player1_mouse_index = “0”
          config_save_on_exit = false
          Can't seem to do that anymore. The mouse index appears different now. It starts with 2 long named descriptions. I know the first one is my spinner , the second is my trackball then it goes on with
          N/A (#2)
          N/A (#3) etc..... but teh .cfg file doesn't seem to work anymore :(
          On another note, is there anyway to get the retroarch menu to rotate 90 degrees when it opens in a game?

            Post a verbose log on pastebin.com and we'll take a look to see if the .cfg file is ignored or not. Mice enumeration (and gamepads) has changed with various RetroArch versions, so the index may be different or needs additional configuration. The option is still the same (i.e. input_player1_mouse_index).

            No, this does not work with the video driver used in RetroPie.

              @mitu strange.... for some reason it (spinner / trackball) now seems to be working. Thanks for the responses though.
              Too bad about the menu :(
