8bitdo pro 2 bluetooth setup freezing when choosing Security mode
-
Hi all,
Having some trouble setting up my 8bitdo pro 2 on RetroPie.
Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 4 4GB
Power Supply used: 5V 3A power supply - came with this kit https://thepihut.com/products/raspberry-pi-starter-kit?variant=20336446079038
RetroPie Version Used: 4.7
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website, Berryboot, or on top of existing OS etc.. - please provide the filename of any image used) ?
USB Devices connected: wired Laelr SNES USB Controllers. Keyboard.
Controller used: 8bitdo pro2
Error messages received: Freezes at certain point
Guide used: Setting up an 8bitdo Bluetooth controller
File: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/8Bitdo-Controller/I'm getting to Step 10 in the above guide at which point, when I select one of the options, a cursor will appear at the bottom left of the screen and start typing text. I'm then stuck and can't proceed.
I have tried all options now (1-5) which was pretty time consuming as I have to unplug, forget the bluetooth device, and search for it again between each trial :(
Is it possible to just connect this controller from the command line? Or am I doing something wrong?
Appreciate all the help I can get!

xpadneo
driver from RetroPie-Setup before pairing. Restart your Pi before attempting pairing again. - change the pairing mode to DInput or Switch before pairing via Bluetooth.
- if the controller is set to use XInput mode, install the

@mitu thank you, I'll try that this evening

Just to close the loop on this. I was unable to try the above solution as the controller had paired, but no security settings or configuration was allowed. When I tried to unpair the controller I couldn't. I assume I had messed up the settings trying fixes for this. I uninstalled retropie and reinstalled and it worked fine. Thanks for the help.
