Custom NES palette?
-
I am going to be playing a romhack for an NES game, and it came with a color palette. I am trying to load it, but I don't understand how. I read to put the palette in "\\RETROPIE\bios\palettes" which I did. When I go into the RGUI settings to swap the palette, though, the palette is not listed. I see a bunch of other choices for color palettes that I didn't see in "\\RETROPIE\bios\palettes" though (which only had default.pal before I added the NES palette I am trying to use).
How do I apply the palette?

Some of the palettes are built-in into the emulator and they don't have a file on disc associated. Only when you choose custom as the core option you need to provide a palette file in the BIOS folder.
The name of the file depends on the emulator, if you're using the default NES emulator (
fceumm
), then the file must be namednes.pal
, see https://docs.libretro.com/library/fceumm/#custom-color-palettes. If you're using thenestopia
core, the file is namedcustom.pal
.
