Currently playing though FFIX for the first time in 20 years and having a blast. Until I had to reload a save file once my game had progressed to disc 2.

I'm using m3u files to arrange the discs which looks good in the menu and makes it easy to swap discs. But since the save files are stored with the discs, I essentially have four different memory cards for my game which is a hassle.

After a bit of hair pulling last night I found some ways to make it work, and I present them here for anybody else in the same pitfall as me (you can google a lot of stuff, but I did not manage to find a solution pointing to the easiest one).

      Things you can do:

1: Enable the second memory card in the pcsx options. This will create a shared memory card in slot 2 available for all discs. If you do this from the beginning and only save to slot 2, then this is by far the easiest option.

2: Boot up the game, change to disc two, and save game override options. Then exit and restart pcsx-rearmed. The emulator will now boot straight from disc two and have the save file associated with disc 2 available. Repeat for subsequent discs, of course.

3: Manually copy the disc2.srm save file to the main save file (the one associated with the m3u file) and start pcsx-rearmed. This will have to be repeated for subsequent disc changes.

TL;DR: Use a second memory card for multi disc games :-)
