1440p on 27" Monitor
-
Hi,
I'm currently builing an arcade cab, and am looking to fit a 27" monitor in it. Is 1440p supported by Retropie, and is this a recomeneded resolution, or would i be better off at 1080p? I'm using a Pi4.I've tried various settings to get 1440p working without any success, so any help is appreciated.
Cheers
Martos

@Martos said in 1440p on 27" Monitor:
1440p
My opinion is to not set a resolution more than 1080p, for optimal performance.

@Martos 1440p is only needed on systems that get uneven scanlines when using a crt shader like nes. It requires enabling 4k60 support along with making the custom 1440p res in your config.txt. There is no benefit if you're not using a crt shader and depending on the system it will be a bit slower. You also need to enable the newer kms video driver. Retropie is still using the older buster pi os so I don't remember if 1440p was buggy with that. Stick 1080p for now.

@Darksavior thanks for the advice. I think I'll return the 1440p monitor and get a 1080p one.
I can always upgrade down the line.
