Hello, I am new to retropie and I just tried connecting my 8bitdo sn30 pro+ to my gpi case 2 running retropie 4.8, but I followed all the instructions (set the switch on the back to B, press start and B together, go into bluetooth in the retro pie settings, and press pair and connect) to no avail. It just said it couldn't find any bluetooth controllers. Can anyone help me with this? I am running on a cm4.

Stupid question, but does your CM4 have Bluetooth/WiFi ? Some of the CM4 models do not AFAIR.

Not a stupid question, @mitu. I got the version without wifi. But I thought all of them came bluetooth. Is this correct?

No, the BT and WiFi functionality is provided by the same wireless module. See the official specs - if you have the radio chip then you'd have both WiFi and BT, otherwise none is available.

Ok, thank you for letting me know. May be difficult to acquire another cm4, but I will check rpilocater daily from now on for a wireless version.
