      Hi,

I am able to successfully run retropie, so I am not unfamiliar with that part. My concern is it possible to mount an ISO image (using ubuntu 18.04) and creating a symlink to the iso and launch the games that way? By games, I am trying Scummvm games, but once I did mount the iso / create the symlink to the media/username/iso path and pointed it to my /home/user/retropie/roms/scummvm folder, the directories did exist there (from the mounted iso) but the Scummvm link in emulationstation does not appear, I am guessing it is a permission issue. Is there someway to get around that so I could access my games from an iso? Or is there another alternative that I am missing?

      Regards,
      RetroB

It's not a permission issue, if you've modified the /home/user/retropie/roms/scummvm folder to point to other folder, then the previous contents are no longer accessible. If you wish to run a game from another location (your CD), then start ScummVM's interface and use it to add a game from that location, there's no need to overwrite the existing scummvm folder.

I think I understand your point, but I was wondering if it was possible to run the games directly from my iso file instead of having a folder of folders (example: scummvm requires extracted files inside folders to run) so I figured I would add the scummvm games to an iso file then mount the iso file in my ubuntu desktop, then point that folder to my ~/ (home directory, linux) /retropie/roms folder. The end result is still a folder full of scummvm folders (games) but at least contained in iso file.

@retroB-0 I think that ScummVM needs an existing installation of the game to run it, not sure if it supports running from an installer iso/disc (where the files needed are not extracted by the installer and possibly packed/compressed).
