Pi Model or other hardware: 4
      Power Supply used: Canakit
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.8
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: Keyboard, sometimes one of the 2 8BitDo controllers
Controller used: 8BitDo NES30 Pro (2 of them)
      Error messages received: N/A
      Verbose log (if relevant): N/A
      Guide used: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/8Bitdo-Controller/#firmware-versions-for-8bitdo-controllers
      File: N/A
      Emulator: N/A
      Attachment of config files: N/A
How to replicate the problem: Try to connect using these controllers with latest firmware.

I've carefully followed instructions on https://retropie.org.uk/docs/8Bitdo-Controller/#firmware-versions-for-8bitdo-controllers

I've updated the firmware on my two 8BitDo NES30 Pro controllers to v 4.10.

I am able to pair the devices and set up udev rules.

I have attempted to connect via all three connect modes (default, boot, background).

I cannot connect on a restart. LED does not change from flashing to solid. No gamepad is detected in emulation station.

I've left the 8BitDo mapping hack off, per instructions.

Both controllers work fine when connected to the pi via USB.

The last time I used the controllers, they connected fine with an older pi model with ancient firmware.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Almost same situation here... any solution on your side ?

        My Configs :

        Pi Model 4 8GB RAM
        Power Supply used: 5V / 3A
        RetroPie Version Used: 4.8
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: Keyboard, sometimes one of the 2 8BitDo controllers
Controller used: 8BitDo N30 Pro (2 of them)
        Error messages received: N/A
        Verbose log (if relevant): N/A
        Guide used: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/8Bitdo-Controller/#firmware-versions-for-8bitdo-controllers
        File: N/A
        Emulator: N/A
        Attachment of config files: N/A
Specials : Boot from SSD via USB3

As i know USB3 is an EMI hotspot on the PI - Therefore use shielded extension cable (1m) for external bluetooth dongle as internal bluetooth has "security problem" and therefore not available...

How to replicate the problem: Try to connect using these controllers with latest firmware.

The last time I used the controllers, they connected fine with an RPI3B and also Retropie 4.8.

But with the Pi4 - no show!

        Help appreciated.

        Thank you for reading...

          @Zentrifuge

Found solution for everything - Batocera - Works like a charm out of the box - Even with my N30 Pro + Bluetooth from internal device.

          Thank you
