Brawler 64 Bluetooth is pretty sweet
-
So Retrofighters have finally released their Bluetooth Brawler 64 for Switch, PC and of course RetroPie and I have to say it's pretty sweet and if it had rumble function it would be perfect.
Easy to connect and handles like a dream. Spare buttons to map the hotkey to which has always been an issue with other 3rd party 64 controllers I've found.
Obviously the improvement on the previous one is you don't have to use that pesky dongle which I found annoying since when it was plugged in you couldn't pair any different Bluetooth controllers which meant getting up and removing it (heaven forbid!)
Comes in 3 colours for now. Ice blue, original grey and white. Not the most exciting choice but imagine (hope) they'll release more in the months to come.
Seriously this is the best choice for playing n64 games on the Pi. A strong 9/10
Button mapping can be found on my previous review on the older version
Around £35-40

Have you had any problems with it switching inputs? I have the wired one and want to like it but it will either be a ps3 xbox or android game pad whenever I start my system which has made a mess of my config files. And as far as know it shouldn’t even show as the Android gamepad so not sure where that’s coming from. -
@WhiteT982 honestly I haven't. It pretty much worked straight out the box without any configuring needed so I'm guessing whichever input was it's default was the correct one. Sorry to hear you're having issues with wired one. Usually the wired ones are the easier to connect

@hawkes_84
Yeah that’s my only reason I got the wired one too. Oh well I have had it a while so maybe they’ve fixed the issue in these new ones. -
@WhiteT982 go for this new one. Its amazing dude. You won't regret it
-
How did you pair it with retropie? I cannot even get the rpi to recognize it.
-
@rodolfoaguilar the same as I would any other Bluetooth device. Stick the controller in Bluetooth pair mode (the lights should flicker back and forth) go to Retropie menu and Bluetooth devices and pair device and it should pop up in the list. Where exactly are you having trouble??
-
@rodolfoaguilar It's been a long time since your post, but curious if you or anyone ever figured this out. My wireless brawler controller works fine while plugged in, but cannot pair via bluetooth (it isn't discovered by retropie).
I have no problem pairing other controllers with bluetooth in retropie.
Also I can pair this controller with my laptop just fine. -
@shootab hi, no trick to it really. Same as pairing any other BT device. Put it into pairing mode. Ask retropie to search for any devices and it should pop up. Can only assume you're already doing all this though

@hawkes_84 yep, thanks for the feedback though...will keep digging when i get some time.
