      I am having the same issue as
      Re: failed to add service - already in use?

      I am running Retropie 4.7.1 on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+. It worked perfectly with this setup, but I recently made a custom launcher for the projectM visualizer. I got it to work, but it was very slow, so I tried some tweaks in raspi-config that were suggested by ChatGPT. Then, I could no longer start EmulationStation. I've reverted the changes in raspi-config (resolution back to default), but I still can't start EmulationStation.
      The .emulationstation/es_log.txt log is:

      Jan 12 00:45:33 lvl2:   EmulationStation - v2.10.1rp, built Dec 26 2021 - 16:20:53
      Jan 12 00:45:33 lvl2:   Parsing XML file "/opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/resources/mamenames.xml"...
      Jan 12 00:45:33 lvl2:   Parsing XML file "/opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/resources/mamebioses.xml"...
      Jan 12 00:45:33 lvl2:   Parsing XML file "/opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/resources/mamedevices.xml"...
      Jan 12 00:45:33 lvl2:   Creating window...
      Jan 12 00:45:34 lvl2:   Created window successfully.

      And then comes the failed to add service - already in use?.

        @appas
        Ok, I needed to revert another change, which was to set GL Driver to "Legacy" with raspi-config. This gave me the message "GL Driver is disabled", or something like that. No wonder projectM was slow!
