Now. I did NOT make this. This belongs to the SRB2 Message Board user Bijman (where his profile is right here). If you want instructions on how to use the software. Just click on the original post.

So you know how SRB2 on RetroPie is outdated? Notice how there's a texture error with Eggman's laser beams in the Green Flower Zone boss? Wanna get the lastest version? Well here's a fix for you!

Presenting: srb2bld! A console interface made where you can build the lastest version of srb2 by source!

Link to original post: Click Me!

The original post has the instructions on how to compile the game. BUT heres a way to make it so you can launch it from the ports menu on emulationstation!

Step 1: After you are done compiling. You have to head to the ports section of your RetroPie Build. If you dont have anything custom for your rom directories. Just type in: cd /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports

Step 2: Then once you do that. Create a new .sh file by typing in nano srb2.sh (you can replace srb2.sh with whatever you like. Just make sure to keep the file type to sh.)

Step 3: Copy and Past this into srb2.sh

      cd /home/pi/.local/build/bin/srb2

      srb2

Step 4: Restart EmulationStation and boot up the game!

      Have fun!
