Upgraded to raspberry 4, cannot get screensaver or snaps to play.
-
Its been a long time since I messed with this as I have been quite happy with my setup. But I recently decided to upgrade to the raspbery pi 4 and started adding some new games and such. Everything has worked absolutly flawlessly and was very similar to when I was doing this several years ago on an raspberry pi 3b. But I cannot get the screensaver or the snaps to work this time. I have tried to match settings, have used the stephen selph and the skyscraper scrapers, enabled and disabled OMX player, everything I can think of. I have looked into the rom files and found all the videos in there and they all seem to play just fine. And I even tried adding a image file under slideshow as that wasnt showing up and I was out of ideas. Still cannot get anything to display. Would anyone have any suggestions?
raspberry pi 4 using Retropie 4.8. Not sure what else to add but will answer quickly if any questions. Thank you for your time.

Did you use the pre-made image from the website, or have you installed manually over RPiOS? If manual, are you using Bullseye or Buster? 32 or 64-bit? AFAIK Bullseye and 64-bit are both WIP and only 32-bit Buster is fully supported -- this should match what the pre-made image uses and should have full video support.
If that doesn't sort you, maybe someone else has an idea.

@sleve_mcdichael I used the raspbery pi imager from the website and installed the raspberry pi os that used Debian Bullseye. Then I installed the games via ssh and configured everything the same way that I had before going through ETA prime videos. The videos are old and for the Raspberry pi 3b, but the process seemed to be the same.

@sleve_mcdichael The imager does say that its for the 32 bit bullseye.

Bullseye support is not complete, that may be the issue. You can download the RPiOS (legacy) Buster version from the Raspberry Pi website here if you want to install manually, or use the pre-made RetroPie image from https://retropie.org.uk/download/
https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/operating-systems/#raspberry-pi-os-legacy

@sleve_mcdichael Thanks! Ill give that a shot and let you know!

@sleve_mcdichael Well, it took awhile. But I did as you suggtested and wrote it using the retropie buster that you linked, reinstalled everything as before. The stephen selph wont install anymore, keeps popping an error. But I was able to use the built in one (Not the one in the main interface but the one through the alternate packages section) and it worked this time!
Thank you!
