In oder to get your controller to work for example: NeoGeo X joysticks, ps2 pads, xbox controllers, or whatever controller you have to work with Mame, you need to configure settings to joystick if using joystick and controller pad if using controller pad within in Mame 'Properties' . <== Click File <== Properties<== Controllers<== Enable Joystick Input if using joystick. Then goto Controller Mapping and then check off whatever applies that you are using. Then start the rom Mame game you want to play, then push the 'Tab' key, then push 'Enter' then move your Joystick or Controller then push Tab again to save and exit out to configure the inputs in order to map
the joystick or controller whatever you are using for each separate Mame game, and you need to do this once every time for each individual game in order for your controller to work.

      Hope this helps! :)

        Hi all,

I have searched for the answer to this question but for the life of me I cannot find it.

I cannot get a controller to work when I use the MAME4ALL. I want to use this as most of my roms seem to work while the other emu (mamelibretro) works fine with the controller but virtually none of the games will run.

When i installed the software, it asked me to config the controller, and that works just fine, i can move around the menu's etc but when i launch mame4all it switches to the keyboard and refuses to see the controller.

I know I am missing a configuration somewhere, i just need to be pointed at where . Can anyone advise me please?

        Many thanks

Very useful information. This helped me figure out a similar issue I had.
