RetroPie crashes after attempted update
-
I am completely new to this and support is appreciated.
I bought a preconfigured game box several years ago. It is built on a raspberry pi 3. It runs emulation station, retropie and several other things (kodi) but I bought it for the games. Recently I wanted to see if I could add PlayStation emulation.
The system has not been updated since I bought it, and I believe it was running retro pie 4.1 (not sure). I was able to connect to my wifi. I went into the retro pie menu from emulation station, and under the config menu tried to update retro pie (all). It crashed, I got a whole mess of errors on screen and now any time I try to launch any option out of the retro pie menu, I get all the errors on my screen, and the system goes back to the retro pie menu.
All games on the system are functional, and I was even able to add some roms (scraper failed on these).
What I want to do ultimately is make sure my system is up to date, add a PS1 emulator and add PS1 roms.
Any help is appreciated but my understanding of everything is basic at best. I tried my best to describe the situation.

It is not practical to troubleshoot a system that neither you nor we have any idea how is configured. For this reason, third-party builds are not supported in any capacity.
Start here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation
I suggest you to backup if able your existing roms, and then install the current latest official image for your hardware from the website at https://retropie.org.uk/download. After the new version is installed, you can restore the backed-up roms to it.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
